Busting Those Myths About Bread

Bread is one of the most delicious and sought after foods in the world, plus it can deliver a lot of benefits- yet, there are many people that think because it has carbohydrates, it must be bad for you. Nothing farther from the truth! Next time you hear these myths about bread, remember this post.

Myth One: Bread can Bloat

It's a common misconception that consuming bread will make you feel bloated, but actually there are no studies linking bread and bloatiness. A sudden increase of fibre of any kind in your diet, however, can cause bloatiness, which will decrease once your large intestine gets used to it. Also, you can combat bloatiness with physical activity and drinking more fluids.

Myth Two: It Makes You Fat

Bread was a staple for many ancient cultures and it has accompanied us to this day. It's there not just because it's tasty, but also because it provides you with nutrients, vitamins and carbohydrates, which are essential to any diet- in moderation. In fact, almost any food can make you fat if you don't eat it with moderation.

Myth Three: White Bread is Evil

Though less nutritious than whole wheat bread, white bread isn't evil. It contains vitamins and minerals that can provide part of our daily requirements, and paired with proteins and fat, its carbohydrates break down more slowly, which will prevent spikes in blood sugar.
