Cookies are the ultimate sweet treat! Unfortunately, we don't get to munch on them that often because they aren't the best option. Most of them are filled with sugars, fats, and other unnecessary ingredients.

However, you can make your own healthy version which you can indulge on without as much of the guilt! In this post, Great Harvest in Butte will tell you all about baking your own oatmeal cookies, so you can give it a try.

How to Bake Healthy Oatmeal Cookies

Gather

3 ⅓ Cups of Oats (blended if preferred)
1 Cup of Whole Wheat Flour1 Cup of Organic Brown Sugar
2 Teaspoons of Soft, Unsalted Butter
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1 Teaspoon of Vegetable Oil
½ Teaspoon of Baking Soda
½ Teaspoon of Sal
r¼ Teaspoon of Cinnamon
1 Large Egg
Optional: ½ Cup of Pecans, Chocolate, Raisins, etc.

Preheat

If you've ever baked, you know that you need to preheat your oven! To bake these cookies, set it at 350 degrees and let it heat while you do the rest, so you don't have to wait later on.

Add In

Now comes the time to mix and match! First, you need to get a big enough bowl to start adding everything in. Begin with the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt, and stir them up.
Slowly start putting the butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and oil in. Lastly, get the oats and other ingredients into the mix. Make sure to blend everything correctly.

Shape Up

In this step, you'll need to mold the dough like cookies. To do this, you can take a spoonful of the mixture and create round shapes with it. Then, place them about 2 inches apart in a pre-sprayed baking sheet so they have a chance to expand.

Bake!

Everything is ready for the final step in the cookie-making process. All you need to do now is get your stuff in the oven and wait around 15 minutes until you see the cookies turn light brown. When the time is up, carefully get them out and let them rest and cool for a bit.
